Soggy John (they/she) is a contemporary artist specializing in absurd recreations of the human form, tongue-in-cheek commentaries on societal issues, and a unique synthesis of different artistic mediums.

Growing up in the American west, they were immersed in theories of social justice, creative expression, and queer identity at a young age. They first grew confidence as an artist through music, releasing via Soundcloud throughout high school. After completing undergraduate studies at Fort Lewis College, they started pursuing visual arts, utilizing surrealist imagery and caricatures of the human form.

Their work revolves around themes of human connection, and the various forms in which humans depend on one another. Through a comical, somewhat sarcastic lens, Soggy John serves as a conduit between the complex, intangible emotions and responses of the human experience and the audience.

Soggy’s work has been displayed at the Teen Pop-Up Shop at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Denver, Colorado, as well as various art shows in the university gallery at Fort Lewis College from 2018-2021. Their work was also on display at the Center of Southwest Studies at Fort Lewis College in the Throughline exhibit through April 2022.
